Description
View of the beautiful San Xavier del Bac Mission in Tucson, Arizona. The San Xavier del Bac Mission was created to serve the needs of the local community, the village of Wa:k (San Xavier District) on the Tohono O’odham reservation, as it still does today. The mission that survives today was built between 1783 and 1797, which makes it the oldest European structure in Arizona. Located about 10 miles south of Downtown Tucson, the Mission is open to tourists, and locals and is a well-known pilgrimage site. The mission hosts over 200,000 visitors per year. The Mission San Xavier del Bac is an outstanding example of Spanish Colonial architecture in the United States.
